Forums / So I sold off my PS2....

So, Right around November 9th (well, just before actually) I was looking around my apartment for stuff to trade in... I saw a stack of games sitting in my entertainment center that I hadn't played since I beat the last one... and decided to trade them in... They were all my Final Fantasy games... Origins, Chronicles, Anthology, VII, VIII, IX, X, & Chrono Cross went to my local Used Video Game shop... along with the original NES cart the next day... (ALAS, The realitization of what I'd done was too much for my little brain... Plus, I rationed, I was wanting to purchase the original w/ box and instructions).

Then, last month... My PS2 was looking all lonely, and being unloved (due to the fact that it refused to play DVD's anymore)... SO, it too went to Hi-Score for trade in...

What'd I get? Well, for the games (so long ago) I picked up Halo 2... good game, don't regret my actions TOO badly...

And for the PS2? I picked up the Megaman collection, an Xbox memory card, a link-cable for the Gamecube (GCN to GBA so I can play the Legend fo Zelda:Four Sword Adventures), a SNES game called "Yoshi's Safari" for use with the Super Scope, and finally... A PS1 to play my Chocobo's Dungeon 2 and Chocobo Racing... What? You thought I'd sell them off?!??!

I plan to re-purchase the Final Fantasy games, but I want to start with the original NES cart (w/ stuffs), the SNES games, and then the PS1 games...

yeah, I'm better off trading in the games i've already played for credit towards new ones....my Final Fantasy VII was stolen, so now i have to get another. Can't say i blame you though, if they're just sitting around collecting dust i would've done the same thing. Oh, and I got the Megaman anniversary collection for my gamecube, great set :)

I read that the GCN version of the Megaman Collection is harder to play for people who've played the originals... Something about the shooting & jump buttons being reversed from the original positions of the NES controller...

but, yes, it IS a pretty cool game... I have discovered that I suck at the games though. I have to play the levels a few times before I get the layout of the level and then a few lives to kill the bosses...

I had bought (and 'borrowed' *bad brie*) games, a bunch of them (more bought than stolen thank you) just before quitting EB last August... and then never ever played any, I started dot hack but didnt get far at all... and then when Kingdom Hearts CoM came out a few months ago, I still didn't have a job at the time, and I had to make the sacrifice so I traded in a lot of my games too (I didnt part with my final fantasies or KH or Xenosaga but more or less everything else) my skies of arcadia legends that I never beat *cries* my star ocean I barely touched *cries harder* so I feel the pain... but it was worth it, becasue the credit got me Kingdom Hearts and some left over to get Xenosaga 2 when it came out...

Not sure if most of these are custom, but Filelist has a bunch of smilies including the 20 included with IPB.

My favorite:

I have Chrono Trigger for SNES...I found this guy who was gonna get rid of his SNES stuff and bought it all from him for $100. I had no use for the SNES itself as I already had one, and there were some doubles (crappy stuff, Jurassic Park, Sim City, Super Mario World (Okay not crappy)) but it included Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Breath of Fire II, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, and Earthbound--all original carts, and mostly in good condition! The save battery didn't work on Breath of Fire II or Super Mario RPG, though...

you lucky son of a bitch!

I have 5 games for my original NES and I play them regularly. (the games being: Jaws, Super Mario Brothers, Megaman 4, the Legend of Zelda and Metal Gear), and as for the old SNES.....Donkey Kong Country.....that's it.

My NES has Super Mario Bros 1-3, LoZ, Yoshi, Lemmings, and Paperboy...

My SNES has Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario World, Starfox, The Lost Vikings, F-Zero, Super R-Type, Metal Combat, Battle Clash, Yoshi's Safari (the last 3 being Super Scope games), LoZ:ALttP, Super Mario RPG-Legend of the Seven Stars (with box, manual, and everything that was originaly included when the game was sold in retail), and Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest

One day... far off in the future, I'll begin repurchasing the FF series... starting with the original NES title, w/ box & intructions... and go from there... (I'll probably skip XI though...)

Thats awesome Domino. I used to know a site where you could download all the nes games and a program to play them on computer. If you want it I'll try to find it. That goes the same for any one else.

pixel
I've never liked EMU's much...there's just something about actually holding the little cartridge in your hands...and actually holding a controller, rather than just punching the keyboard...I don't know, maybe it's just me.
pixel
mr domino might look good with his snes collection,
but i have 50+ nes games, not emulators, 50 or so ps1 games, about thirty xbox games, and i don't know what else. If anyone is looking for the original smb cartridge, come to me. I have all three versions of smb1, and multiple copies of each. I was lucky, because when i was growing up with the nes, a store down the road, sold nes cartridges for about two bucks a piece, and snes and genesis games for about three. Now who's lucky.
pixel
Emulators are better than nothing, and that goes for both of you.

As for you Cloudstrife,

Don't brag because you bought every game the store down the street had in stock!
pixel
Lol, i only have about 7 SNES games, among all of them my favorite is Yoshi's island and Super Mario RPG. (Go duck hunter!!!)
pixel
I wasn't trying to brag initially, but if it's a war of attrition you want: I have 52 SNES carts, 9 Turbo-GrafX-16 cards, 8 Genesis carts, 37 Game Boy carts, 17 GBC Carts, 9 GBA carts, 32 PS1 games (on 45 discs), 57 PS2 games, and enough PC games to drown a chicken.

I like that quote!!!! Not quite having to do ANYTHING w/ water, and misspeaking the "choke a chicken" one....

A Turbo-GrafX 16? Wow... I used to play on that system back in the day (my uncle owned it)... That system was pretty cool... I liked it anyways... Too bad it didn't catch on... kinda used the cards like the Sega Master System did before it...
vip
pixel
I had to trade in most of my old games to get new ones, so i'm lacking in the 'old games' department...although i do have an old copy of Battlezone for the Atari2600 :)
pixel
Turbo-GrafX-16 was actually very popular in Japan...I've always wondered why it never caught on over here...It was way ahead of it's time, but I think the higher price point and the oddness of the cards just didn't quite work for us stoopid Amerikans.

I never sell a game, unless it fucking sucks.

Examples:
The X Files: PSOne
Mega Man X5 : PSOne
Oni: PS2
Eternal Ring: PS2
Spy Hunter: PS2

pixel
Mega Man X5 is fucking awesome! Heathen!
staff

Not when compared to X4.

The only MegamanX game I've played was just that... the first one on the SNES... I suck at it royally, so I have left it alone to die my way through the original line up (via my Gamecube version of the Megaman Collection)...

I now regret my decision to sell the PS2 off, but it WAS having technical Difficulties... I think I should have just sold IT off when I did instead of my Final Fantasy games (among other PS2 titles)...
staff
pixel
Aside from the PS2 being smashed or submerged, most of the technical difficulties can be fixed on your own.

I've probably extended the life of mine by a couple more years, with the maintainance I do on it.
staff
pixel
Mine died once and I got it fixed. If I had of known it was that easy to do I would have cracked it open and done it then and there, but I didn't know anyone that knew the score.
vip
pixel
Well, I sold off the games before I sold the system... because at the time I figured that I could repurchase the games... Then as time went by and I hadn't purchased any new games, I decided that it was time to sell off the system... Which I did... As I've said, it was having issues playing games, dvd's, and the like... So, outside of replacing the DVD drive w/ that of another, I decided to trade it in on all the stuff I've mentioned before...

Plus, I kinda wanted to get one of the slimline ones anyways!

Hmmm.... who knows yet? I'll figure it out one of these days... The "next gen systems" will be hitting the market in a few months or so, so the price should drop to VERY reasonable... so... yeah. I'm going to stop typing now............
pixel
Eternal Ring wasn't THAT bad...okay, maybe it was, but still....

*sigh* I am king of the noob retards....
staff
pixel
I have no idea what that game is, but if it 'fucking sucks' then that's a good thing.
pixel
It was one of three Agetec PS2 launch titles, along with Armored Core 2 (which ruled) and Evergrace (which was a heaping mound of Chocobo dung - no offense, meth.) I didn't think it was all that bad personally but others seem to disagree with me. (meaning everybody.)
