Probably true enough, as I'm not going to pick one up anytime soon... I am broke, and will probably be picking up a Wii just because it's like 1/3 the price of the PS3 (that and it has a LOZ game for it too).

I just have come to realize that I sold off my PS2, my Xbox, etc. but have kept my Nintendo systems... Maybe I'm a fanboy, but I think I just enjoy the 1st party Nintendo titles too much to get rid of them...

I don't dislike the PS3 though... I just think that sony is funny is all. I won't be able to afford one, but I'm not being a bitch about it because I can't. whether I could buy one or not I still make fun of sony's attempt at creating new things.

DVD sales also went up some 50% after the ps2 came out, y'know, then people had a way and reason to buy DVDs, as they then had a game console with DVD playing capabilities! SO HA!!!
AND MY LP COLLECTION COULD BEAT UP YOUR LP COLLECTION METH! SO HA!

Since my LP's and player were stolen out of a 'friends' pickup when i moved in with Terasa 8 years ago... Probably... I only have about 20 albums now... and nothing to play them on! LOL...

They were big in Japan, where you can rent CDs. You cannot, however, fire a gun at your neighbors. Go America! (sarcasm!)

An old friend of mine had one of those too... Paid out the ass for it too, if I remember right... I just laughed at him when he produced both the player and component stereo player...

Now, the one thing I'm in awe of is a friend o' mine's Panasonic Laseractive (Laserdisc/Sega Genesis combination)... He used to have a massive gaming collection, but sold most of it off, sans this little number, when he needed to scrape up money for something (car, house, I don't remember... I was focusing on this thing..)

beta max, minidisk and umd... thats why I say blue ray won't survive not because I'm some fanboy bitching about cost.

Yeah except that the PS3 will sell a shitfuckton of units, and thats why Blu-Ray has a huge chance of being succesful, because a shitfuckton of people are going to have a Blu Ray player in their house. Once you can buy whole TV shows in one Blu Ray disc, youll see people adopting the format a lot more

beta didnt have that, neither did the minidisk .. and UMD? Yeah OK good luck beating Nintendo on the portable market

I'm just saying, thats the reason I was making fun of sony, not because I'm a whining fan boy, my prediction of blu rays sucess has nothing to do with my feelings for the ps3
