JIM MAHFOOD(the food abides!) is hilarious, 'specially for hip-hop loving, weed-tokin', 40 oz drinkin', turntable-spinnin', sketchbook-drawin', woman-respectin', recalicitrant/anarchic board-ridin', comic-loving-types. like me. |

I've never been much of a fan of manga, actually I'm not much of a fan of jap culture at all but one manga I have read is "Battle Royale" which absolutely rocks, like the movie. |

Yotsubato! is cute and fun to read, and you may possibly be able to read it at your local chain bookstore alongside the hordes of 16-year-olds swarming over the manga section. |

start with Blade of the Immortal, theres no way in hell you wont like it |

awesome thanks guys, oh yeah and bob reminded me that I actually have read manga before, I read the first FLCL |

Only ones I've read are the .Hack/ stuff, and Chobits... So there ya go... I'm not one to be taking advice from, except for this... If you like an Anime show, check to see if there's a manga it's based off... it might give a few details that were left out of the cartoon... |

I'm going to have to second Paul on Yotsubato (In the U.S. it's Yotsuba&). And if you like that, check out Azumanga Daioh.
Also, Love Hina. Words can not express how insanely funny this series is. |

I read Love Hina maybe in 1999 or something, except the last two books/series/things. It was pretty good! But then I read it for the lesbian innuendo, not the hilarity. Also, it had some pretty mushy romance, as I recall. Shut the fuck up. I'm a man. I OBVIOUSLY only cared about the innuendo. |

I second that, and when bringing that up with my friends, female and male, they all agree with Rahul. Yeah, Blade of the Immortal is really the best place to start. and for american- Hopeless savages! They're is no way you won't like it! |

As of now I don't own any manga, if their was one manga I was thinking of buying it would be Vampire Hunter D by Hideyuki Kikuchi.
Some time in mid 2005 after 20 some years they finally release it in the US, I think there up to vol. 4 or 5.
