I'm referring to my topic that I deleted (yeah, lame, but I stand by it) in Pa(u)laverity. It just pisses me off that in my attempt to actually engage people on this board in discussion based on shit they REALLY enjoy, I was met with paltry answers akin to "my flashlight pepper grinder" and Xavi's award winning response "boobs". I can't help but think it isn't that hard to come up with a decent answer to a simple question, unless one's life is so empty that they have nothing to "complete" them. I don't have many people willing to actually talk about this crap with in my every day life now that I'm out of school and away from my "art crew", and because I respect a lot of you people on here, I had hoped I could share something like that with a good handful of forum-goers. It just frustrates me that if I wanted to start a serious topic, I can't count on the majority here to be just as serious. I know thats a draw for many of us here, that we're not glued to a set of bullshit forum rules upheld by a bunch of wannabe tyrants, but is a serious topic once in a blue moon that hard to actually be contributory towards?

Want some "adult" talk? Heres some. Were all going to die someday, who the fuck cares what we talk about. Does getting older mean that you have to face your fears and orient your conversation away from childish talk or boob talk? Please, it might seem that way at a certain age when you think youre all "mature" and what not ... but after a while youll realize that it doesnt fucking matter. No matter what you have said in your life or what convcersations youve had you will end up as dead as the rest of us. What truly makes a difference is the ride your life takes you, and I can tell you that if you get all prissy about somethign so banal such as this type of shit, then youre wasting your time, there are way better ways to enjoy what little time on this earth you have

To be an idiot and talk about stupid shit is one thing. I do it all the time. I am the fucking master of it. But don't you just ONCE IN A WHILE want to talk about something a little more worth while? The best way I can describe that is by labeling it as "adult". I don't necessarily mean "ok kids, lets all put away our potty training books and talk about big people stuff", but come on, you're telling me you couldn't take 2 more seconds to come up with a better response than the word "boobs"? I thought it would be cool to try and get to know what people were into, but it backfired, and I got a little pissed off. Sue me. Theres so much on my mind I would like to share with people and a have a fucking discussion with, but 90% of those people are beyond contact since school ended. Talking about likes and shit is something I love to do, I find it just as satisfying as creating art and music. Its boring here (as in Long Island). Theres nothing to fucking do, no one to do that shit with, no one to hang out with for the most part, no one to be stupid with until August 28th rolls around and I'm back in my dorm to cause mayhem and panic and all the inbetweens. Excuse me for trying to use this place to satiate my boredom.

Steve, I think more of a problem is that the SHMFoD doesn't have that "critical mass" of party people that we had in the past that would even talk about, gasp, video games (like me dumping on FFVI just to be an asshole), much less other topics. All of the old folk are just busy or have lost interest (or like me, are horrible horrible people). However you are free to try again and see how that goes.

Serious conversation on this site is possible, but usually bounces all over the range of human (and, in some cases, just plain old 'mammal') conversation... Just look at the "Is Square Dead" thread...

Yes, we might be on a "Videogame" website, I might even collect Transformers... but I'm one of the more mature friends in my group of friends.
