No, there will be no Final Fantasy titles for Xbox. However, Wada said he does show some interest in the next incarnation of the Xbox.
Still it will probably be non-numbered titles like Crystal Chronicals and not the main games. Those will probably stay with Playstation, maybe seeing ports on other consoles. |

I must concur with Rachel, though she failed to mention the waves of pestilence and four horsemen who would follow.
The onerous figure of exclusivity has been torn down, overshadowed now only by the monstrous dollar sign.
Hide your controllers; lock your cabinets!
The end is upon us!

Nooooo, that dollar sign! Let me guess, EA is signing an exclusive deal with Microsoft to publish 80% of the world's games on their platform? Wouldn't suprise me.

well it wouldn't be a *waste* if you wanted to play teh game so bad, its a lot of money for a game but if you want it then its not a waste, just annoying. And I doubt it will come to xbox... |

We can only hope that is the case. |

Wada did not say he was interested in next-gen Xbox. He commented on the XNA proposition Microsoft introduced last year, which should help crossplatform development (for MS this means Xbox 360, Xbox, and PC). Considering Square Enix's goals with crossplatform (Polymorphism) have already been shown in how FFXI was implemented on PS2 and PC, as well as the way they're working with Final Fantasy VII and Code Age, the two trains of thought do run somewhat parallel. However, MS and Squenix collide in how they implement their online plan: Microsoft's Xbox Live system is centered around Xbox and therefore will only allow for connections from Xbox systems. On the other hand, PlayOnline is centered around being platform independent, which allows for games to connect to it and play together regardless of system. This is a fundamental difference in ideology which will not be solved anytime soon. Ideally, Square Enix would see the possibility of producing a game for Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo and PC platforms with the ability to communicate between each, but there's no chance that any of the platform creators will allow such sharing (yet).
So to conclude, Square Enix on Xbox won't happen. |

I always assumed (and you know what you get when you make assumptions, you make an ass of Umption) that the issue with the Xbox LIVE service was that LIVE was all-encompassing of Xbox's library, while PLAYONLINE was for each specific title (or that's what I'd assumed, more of a pay-to-play concept)...
Not sure about the details, don't really care... Really have to repurchase my FF library... (I do miss it so...) |

Yes...why would anyone inflict that on themselves and the wonderfull (and albeit obsesive in some cases) fans? They must be wrong in the head... |

Well, apparently it is...for Xbox 360 at least.
Xbox 360 picks up Final Fantasy XI

Yes, thanks for pointing out ancient news.
FFXI on Xbox 360 is not "Square Enix on Xbox". It's "Square Enix laughing all the way to the bank as Microsoft stupidly believes it is gaining any kind of real ground by having SE conjure up another shitty port of a profitable MMORPG while not really enjoying any kind of real support".
When Square Enix announces something substantial, like World of Mana, for Xbox 360, then we'll talk. |

Ah money, your money's all that money. I still don't understand why Microsoft wanted FFXI, how many people do they seriously expect to sign up on their console? I suppose time will tell, but I hope if hits Microsoft hard and they realise how stupid their casual throwing of money was. |
staff |
Well, I wouldn't condemn MS just because they're traditionally not the land of RPGs. I'd love for something substantial to be made *for* Xbox 360. But at this point, Square Enix is just laughing at their Xbox Live plan. My earlier points still hold: PlayOnline and Xbox Live do not mesh and for this conversion will undergo substantial changes. I doubt we'll see the same in all of SE's games for the platform. |

I see a future of money throwing from Microsoft for Square-Enix to make something specifically for Xbox Live. I know they don't WANT to do it, but $M has a way with words and cash. |

I just realized that, outside of the "Which is better" thread that Kai 91 STARTED, all the following posts that he's made are ENTIRELY QUOTATIONS. He's just quoted the previous person before him and made a post (that usually doesn't have anything to do with the post he's quoting to begin with...)
Oh, and by the way... you forgot to close out your tags...
you wanted to put I think it should come on x box but i know it wont be on x box
 :( :( :(
I guess he's a big fan of the "Dolphin Blow"! :D |

He's also a notorious user of the smilies, where's that option that limits how many of those are to be used in one post...? |

Romans don't speak English. That's just stupid.

We were talking about other stuff probably, but now quite distracted by your seemingly sudden appearance. |
