March 28, 2008, Square Haven has ceased updates indefinitely. Don't despair, however; the work started here more than ten years ago continues at Videogam.in.

I'm gonna go see this flick with Terasa and a friend of ours, I'm hoping for good things. The clips on the net have been humorous, reviews promising, and the fact that it's Depp and Burton togeather says to me "Hey, it's GOTTA be good!"

Yup... I want to see Willy Wonka... he's funny... hehe...
pixel
OH MY GOD, IT WAS AWESOME!!!! Ah, the excitement. The identical oompa-loompas, Willy Wonka himself, the children.... ah, the children. Each character seemed a little more exaggerated, but the movie also gave a lot more explanation as to what made Willy Wonka what he was. I can't contain myself, it was so good! The beginning had Tim Burton written all over it. The best part was that it wasn't so much a remake, but a different interpretation. Despite Wonka being so radically different, it still left you with that warm fuzzy feeling of it being the old Wonka Wilder you knew and loved. This is a must-see (as is probably many other movies, but this is better). And it all lends more meaning to the shirt I got Ether Shadow for Christmas, with a squirrel holding a stick between his paws and some nuts at his feet, saying "PROTECT YOUR NUTS." See this movie, it is a commandment!

It wasn't a remake at all, it's adapted directly from the book.

I want to see it, but I doubt I will until it comes out on DVD, since I hardly ever get to go to the theater and the last thing I saw there was Meet the Parents.

I need someone to go with, Rachel. Up for it?

I would, but that prospect seems unlikely.

One day, Alex.

The movie was awesome, I loved Depp's performance, the Oompa Loompas, the story of where they came from, the demise of the children (alas though, the fact that you saw them walk out of the factory kind of ruined some deep rooted though processes where I believed the kids were maimed, killed, or something to that effect...)

Meh, maybe I should read the book sometime and see what the ACTUAL story is...

That "Dad Subplot" w/ Christopher Lee... I thought it was cool... Brought a little more depth to the character of Wonka... showed him why he might be the way he is...

hehe...

I'll keep that in mind for my next business trip to the U.S.

Rachel, you'll be in for quite disappointment throughout the movie if you think it was adapted from the book. There are more points from the book, yes, but there are more items included in this that weren't. Example; squirrels instead of geese. The Dad Subplot. One parent substituted for another. Instead of Charlie taking over the factory, Wonka and he pretty much go into business with each other. With how good the movie was, I was pretty sad from the ending, because you were able to tell they wouldn't do the sequel "Charlie and the Glass Elevator." If anything, you guys can read that; the first will impress a lot more deeply how poor Charlie was and how he craved the normal candy of other children who had the luxury of being able to throw candy on the ground. And in the summer, mind you! SUMMER!!!

I meant adapted moreso from the book than Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I guess that's what i get when I post drunk and add words like "directly" into my posts.

Hey! Where's the alcohol sharing love in this?! I wants me some boooooooze!!!
staff

Sharing is for communists...but I'm always willing to lend alcoholic refreshments to those in need. But I don't deliver.
pixel
Lend is a pretty strong word.... :)
staff

By lend, I mean that I won't charge as much as the store.

That's it.

No more Reese's cups for you. Bad Rachel, bad!
staff
pixel
But, I like Reese's ever so much :(
pixel
hehehe....

If you love them enough, I could scrounge up a piece of Meal Gum with an ending of Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Pie (as opposed to the blueberry pie).

If you were a Reese's Cup, would you eat yourself? I would... I cover myself with more Reese's Cups... I'd be delicious.

I would, but...how would a reese's cup eat itself?
pixel
From the inside-out, of course. With your delicious, peanut-buttery mouth of goodness.... *drooling*

Almost sounds sexy...almost.

The peanut butter cups are good, but what about the Reeses Pieces? They rock as well!!!
staff

Yea Verily.

I always found the peanut butter cups to be more enjoyable. There's so many fun ways to eat them, I would always pop out the center and eat that first.

Oh man, now I think I might have to get some. . .

Gogar's gettin' him some Peanut Butter Action...

Yes, it was wonderful :P

pixel
The closest thing I remember our local supermarket getting as 'gourmet' was organic milk, and that was because it had chunks unlike regular milk....

Reeses Pieces are so good. Put them on a piece of bread with jelly.... perfect reject Breakfast Club food. With pixie stix.
