I woke up this morning with a craving for final fantasy VIII.
But it turns out my disc crashes halfway through the opening video, so i just wondered if anyone knows if there is anyway to skip the intro sequence. Cause a friend told me that you can open the playstation in the middle of it and then you just wake up in the hospital or something. Is this true, or am i buggered? |

this happend to my friend.. try putting disk 3 or 4 in first then switch disks when they tell you too..
sounds stupid but it worked for him.. |

duct tape trick. two little strips of it on either side of the hold in the center of the disk on the front side. i had a crashing problem with God of War recently that duct tape fixed for me.
ahh duct tape... is there anything you CAN'T do? |

I know, it can't give you sexual pleasure.
And in response to the original question, I heard there is a way to skip movies in FFs by opening the lid, so it should work. |

duct tape condom. the little ripples add to the affect. |

Or if there's one of those disc repair places over there. I hear they work well but I've never tried it myself. |

that, and skip DR works wonders. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT SOLUTION!!! i used the DVD solution on a regular playstation disk. white film all over the place. i guess there's something else that the so called 'gameDR' does that the DVD DR does differently, but it screwed up my game with it. |

I have the same problem with my FFVIII disc...It's so bad that I had to get a friend to save at the first save point and transfer it to my memory card so I can play on it...
Never thought about using the duct tape though... |

I hate discs too. Too delicate, and if you leave just the right finger print on one, watch out.
I never trust Disk Doctors, but if you go to Game Crazy... they'll buff any condition of a disc for $2 (as long as its not cracked- and the top of the cd is free of any holes or scratches in the label). You can also go wild and purchase a disc buffing card for $5, and it will cover the cost of 5 cd buffings. It saves you money if you have more than three cds to do that.
The actual machine they use is called a JFJ Disk Repair machine (which runs about $4,000 online somewhere). It uses sand paper, and two polishing compounds, and depending on the condition of the disc, Game Crazy will estimate what grade of sand paper it needs. Like any method of repair however, the whole process is an "as is" basis-- and at your own risk. Some CDs just can't be saved sometimes.
Um.... I'm a store manager there... so it's not just me sounding obsessed with disk repair.
Um.... yeah. |

I tried the changing discs things and it didnt work, and i dont think there are any game repair shop things near me. So i might try the duct tape trick, but quite frankly im just a bit scared.
As it is my friends gona lend me his disc one, in exchange for my disc two (cause his is scratched). Like i said, i hate discs
you know i might just go and fish out my megadrive |
