Now that there is two great portable systems out there, there surely will be tons of competition, so what games do i have to look foward to other than the ffs and castlevania? |

Depends on what you like. |

Indeed. The most disheartening part about the PSP for me was its lack of solid RPGs. That is an honor relegated to the Nintendo DS, which was very dissapointing, given my dislike for the portable. If you're into it, though, there's Xenosaga DS and that Lunar game they had the gall to put on a Nintendo platform. |

Xenosaga DS will likely be a flaming piece of shit given Monolithsoft's inability to make anything remotely resembling a good game.
Unless it's a port of Pied Piper...then it shows promise. |

Monolithsoft is making Namco x Capcom, which is likely to ROCK ASS. So your Xenosaga DS logic is flawed! |

Not really. I personally have little to no faith in Namco x Capcom. If it sells well, it will be because of the popular Namco and Capcom characters and not because of the gameplay.
You haven't played Xenosaga, so you don't know just how bad it actually is. Episode 1 is mediocre at best, Episode 2 is horrid. It's because of poor decision making within the company, and lack of talent. Visually, Ep 2 is amazing, but the gameplay isn't fun, dungeon design is utter shit, and the story pacing is awful. Plus, if they're going to try this whole story-driven RPG thing, it would help if they started getting into the story instead of just fucking around. They're pushing more people away, rather than drawing more in, with many saying if they haven't improved by Ep 3, they're done.
If Xenosaga DS is a port of the cellphone game Pied Piper...then it will be good. Considering most people find it more interesting than Episode 2, and would much rather play it. I personally hope it is, since it was kind of a stupid idea on their part to release a game that contains important plot elements that actually explains more of the overall plot than Ep 2., in Japan only...for cellphones.

Well, I don't have anything to say about Xenosaga, but I wouldn't condemn Monolithsoft just yet -- Baten Kaitos was a decent game, and for all we know the poor quality of the Xenosaga games were mainly due to the company's internal politics surrounding Takahashi. Maybe now that Bandai and Namco are merging (and Namco calls the shots on the franchise), we'll see more complete dedication to upping the quality?
However, Xenosaga is a reasonably popular franchise, and seeing it and Baten Kaitos come to DS is interesting not so much because it's Monolithsoft developing, but because it may have some interesting added gameplay value on the platform (such as Baten Kaitos' card battle system).
For that matter, Namco x Capcom is actually shaping up quite well on a gameplay level from what I've heard, so I'm not about to call that one yet either. |

I haven't played Xenosaga or Baten Kaitos, but until now, I've heard naught but good things about them...as for other games, I just hope they hurry up with the full version of Metroid Prime: Hunters...and Castlevania DS is gonna rock simply because it's the sequel to the best of the GBA games. |

I guess Castlevania will be pretty cool. Who knows! ;) |

the point of the ds was not to start a new genre of gaming, or a new generation of gaming. It was just the same as the n64, to bring retro games, and turn them 3d. The ds will mostly have older games that were on the n64, but remade, like mario kart 64 ds. You have to understand that nintendo is just trying to stay in the business, not be better than sony. yaeh they are trying to make money, but they are trying to also revolutionize gaming. Please understand that if game developers actually took time, and put forth effort, a great game might come out. Please bear with us ds owners while we wait for a good one.
i want to thank all of you who have taken my poll, it makes me feel semi normal |

The DS has great gaming potential, and will stay cool even if it has competition from the PSP, and is a scheme to keep Nintendo alive. Sony has a better stationary console, but this Dual Screen idea is really cool. I love having the ability to touch something on one screen, maybe not even related to what I'm doing, and then being able to see gameplay on the top screen. I am also really satesfied with picto-chat. I wish I had the money to purchase one, but I am saving for something different.

I am sorry for the short posts, I'll stop doing that for the sake of your limited bandwidth. Your welcome! :D |

personaly, i think the DS is awesome..some may say that its a portable n64 like me, but really it aint all that bad. compared to the PSP  , i'd much rather have creativeness rather than pretty stuff going on and on and on and on... |

They axed Scars of the War? I thought the copyright was renewed.
That would be a goddam shame; I was looking forward to Iwasaki's score. |
