I came across this on my regular surfing of the interweb. http://www.painstation.de/new/index.html

To sum it up it is an arcade machine of pong only players have to put their left hand on a pain pad which they are subjected to heat, electric shocks and whips. If a player's hand leaves the pad then they automatically lose. It is a real step up from interactive gaming device like eyetoy and VR stuff and really makes you think about where gaming is going. If there already is a video game where we can inflict pain on each other is someone soon going to take it to the next level? Soon are we going to die playing video games? Wait, that's already happened, I meant are we soon going to be killed by a video game searching for that added bit of player interactivity?

Anyway, check out the hall of pain in the gallery section. OUCH!!!

I wouldnt worry since the stupid fuckers that dwell into this kinda shit are probably into other stuff that hurts them too, ike skateboarding, s & m, candle wax or Tomb Raider games

My god, replies... and here I was thinking my miserable attempt at intellectual discussion involving games had failed abysmaly.

Anyway I thought it was a rather interesting as pain has always been one of humanity's greatest entertainments, like who doesn't laugh at a person falling over and hurting themselves. This kind of reaction spawned those ridiculous home movie shows of people hurting themselves. Also look at games like slaps, knuckles and other pain endurance games, these have been around for ages, it was only a matter of times before it hit the video game arena. Plus I think it would be bloody intense playing it, just the prospect of hurting your friends sounds fun enough added to the fact that you will be trying your best not to lose because if you do it is going to hurt alot.

I have very mixed feelings over it, but in the end, I'd probably want nothing to do with it. I'm in no way masochistic, so should things like this be introduced t6o mainstream gaming, I'd disable it, or at best, stay far away.
