Can be cool.
"Georges Fornay, president of Sony Computer Entertainment France, has made an important comment in a recent interview: "Final Fantasy XIII's exclusiveness is still being discussed". Jeux-France reports that in the same interview, Georges Fornay mentioned that the Playstation 3 has made Sony lose a tremendous amount of money.
Let me remind you that the Playstation 3 has lost a very important exclusive not too long ago, Devil May Cry 4. Losing Final Fantasy XIII will cause a lot of harm to the Playstation 3." (Source: Forever Fantasy).
Got to admit, I was going to buy a PS3 just because of Square Enix. If this goes to the Xbox360 as well, I might give it a go. Might be a good chance to try out Blue Dragon as well.
Any fanboy opinions? :o |

My policy has always been to go where the games are.
I'm a huge RPG guy (mostly JRPG), which heavily influenced my decision to buy a PS2 last gen. I missed out on a lot of great GC titles, I'm sure, but those are ones I plan to pick up soon at very discounted prices.
Losing DMC4 is a big blow to Sony, losing FFXIII would be very dangerous, and if by whatever circumstance MGS4 goes multi-platform, then Sony's taking a slice to the jugular.
At the end of the day, if I see Konami, Atlus, XSeed, Namco, and the rest putting out titles for the PS3 and Square Enix is absent or multi-platform, then those other developers will swing my decision.
It is good to remember that as a console, the PS3 stands to win or lose. And yet, I am not attached to that potential loss.
As a gamer, I can only win. |

as a fangirl I agree that I would go where the games are, I know really one of the main reasons I would even think of getting a PS3 would be because of Final Fantasy XIII and if it were to be released on another (cheaper) console then I probably would not be buying a PS3 depending on what other games are to be released on it in the future. |

Besides the blockbusters, PS3 still has a few in-house games that look great, like White Knight Story and Little Big Planet. Although I don't know about you, I will never, ever spend $500 for a PS3. |

Yeah, the price is the biggest purchase deterrent. Although Blue Ray is starting to pick up, so as a media player the PS3 is becoming a better option. Too bad I play video games. |

I am a cheap assed gamer, and as such, have missed out on a few Square titles on the PS2 (since I'd sold mine off a while back & didn't want to dish out the dough for another one).
As such, I am happy with the re-hashed Final Fantasy games that made their way to the GBA & DS... I would probably not let exclusivity badger me into saving up all my (limited) funds to purchase a new (most expensive generation) system & game... I will regret the decision later on, probably... but then again, life goes on... (and I'll probably get to play it again in 10 years on a cheap handheld system anyways :D )
That's just my two cents anyways... |

If FFXIII ends up on 360 it would definitely be a huge blow to Sony, especially with Microsoft creating or securing RPGs like Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Cry On, Infinite Undiscovery, and Eternal Sonata. 360 has western RPGs like Oblivion and Mass Effect as well. White Knight Story by Level 5 will be fun I'm sure but like Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy I don't think it'll be big enough to go up against all those games including FFXIII. Other 3rd party publishers don't seem to be helping either with Devil May Cry 4 and Ace Combat 6 coming out on 360 as well. Last edited by jj984jj on April 19, 2007 |
