so now that I have 'lec -tricite and the hurricane business is old news (yeah yeah your homeless heard that two weeks ago deal!)
I have sort of a nomal topic just because somethings been bothering me and since I used to always come here and talk to you guys... well JUST ANSWER! *I command it*
anyway, this is more for the people my ripe old age, anyone around 22,23,24 etc but not necessarily...
for awhile now it just seemes to me that every single one of my friends is either getting pregnant or getting married and it is just freaking me out, has anyone been expierencing something similar where every week there is a new announcement of this sort from people who caught you off guard with it.
I will be 24 in about two weeks on the 18th, my excitement is OMG KINGDOM HEARTS 2 is coming out, my walls consist of Final Fantasy X-2, Lord of the Rings, Kingdom Hearts Harry Potter and Animatrix posters... I am a nerd, I feel sometimes a bit older than I did when I was in college with my roudy friends, but I do NOT feel old enough to be dealing with weddings and children...
are these people (most of them younger than me) just STUPID for having fucking kids so young? or is it normal and just the next stage of life and I gotta accept the grim fact that I'm an old lady, or I dont know, guess I just need to talk to somebody about it because saying the word 'wedding' 'marriage' 'pregnant' or 'baby' around Nico and he screams and runs as far from me as possible... probably shouldn't have said to him I'M SO JEALOUS OF THE PREGNANT GIRL IN MY DANCE CLASS... probably not what guys want to hear... HA ... ha... erf... |

Its not that youre "old", its that youre just not coping with your age.
The trend nowadays is to wait to get married. The fact that a couple get married on their early 20's and/or have kids is perfectly normal, thats the way its always happened for generations now. The problem is that youre not seeing this in shades of gray. You can be young, like harry potter, drool over Tidus, play Mario games and ALSO be married, have a baby, etc. One thing does not have to overshadow the other.
Having kids before your 20's well that happens more or less depending on your state/country. In Europe you dont see that happening often but in places with more Latin Americans its juts common ground.

I just find it weird, and I feel bad wondering if my friends are being stupid and rushing things, you're right I'm not taking it well... or because my friend who got married was with his girlfriend, broke up because she needed 'time to find herself' or whatever, were broken up 6 months they got back together one month later they announced they were engaged three weeks later had the actual wedding, and this girl in my dance class who is pregnant is 17, my other friend who just announced she is pregnant today just recently moved from here to live with her boyfriend in like minnesoda or some place like that and its all so sudden... maybe I am just jealous but then again the idea of having either is scary...

There IS a problem in all that though, its normal for people to get married at a young age .. but nowadays people also have a bigger sense of rush. Many individuals now getting into a relationship come from divorced families or are familiar with the subject matter (at least in the United States) so the idea of eventually dissolving the union is not necessarily a harsh one, it might just simply mean the end of one cycle and the beginning of the next.
I dont believe in all that but I could see others following that path, there are girls that get pregnant at 14, and there are women that get married at 20. You feeling bad about these things probably doesnt reflect a problem that you have with society, but its probably closer to being a personal problem that youll have to deal with.
Age is but a number, Ive met 40 year olds that act like teenagers and 18 year olds as mature as my parents

I think I feel like, people are moving to the next stages in their lives, Nico and I just aren't going to get married or have kids anytime soon, he has school it would just be the worst idea ever... I guess I feel left behind here at a stupid job with nothing to move forward to until much much later...
but I have been thinking of going back to school for a BA degree... I'm sick of having only a technical diploma in photography and I know exactly what I would go for as well, I haven't talked about it because I wouldn't know if I woud be able to... money and all... I wouldn't want to get hopes up but I think I sort of fucked around when I was in school and am now realizing I was an idiot... and having a baby is not the answer, no matter how jealous I am of the damn girl at dance... (she's havin a girl I am quite jealous...) |

in the end everyone wants different things. i wouldnt worry about what everyone else doing or what you think you meant to have done/be doing. you should just do what you want. If you want kids/marriage, then try for it, but if you dont then i wouldnt worry what the girl at dance doing

I also feel a little envious of those my age who are already married and seem to have their lives figured out, mainly because it casts a harsh light on my personality defects that have ruled out healthy relationships (anomie, being emotionally cold, etc.). Shit, we're supposed to meet people in college? I didn't get the freakin' memo. Not that I'd actually want to be married, much less be in a relationship, anytime soon. The married folks I know are surrounded by strong support systems (family) and are holding down decent jobs, whereas I feel I have no choice other than to bury myself in debt for something I hardly care about (insert type of professional school here) lest I squander my shitty-ass undergrad 'education.' I won't be able to find a sugar mama. Trust me. |

OK, so it's pretty well known that I'm married at 25 years of age... I didn't look at it like 'I HAVE to get married', I just thought it was right... not that I HAD to... Terasa and I had been togeather for 7 YEARS, and now feel as though not much has truly changed... A little more in the way of headaches, but not much else...
We have plenty of friends that got pregnant in school, a couple that married while IN school ('cuz she got knocked up pretty much... needless to say, they are not together anymore).... So, I always felt like "Boy are they stupid"...
So, as to the "Jeezus, I am old and EVERYBODY'S DOING IT" is more of a cop out in my opinion... So, just stick it out and if it happens, it happens... Ya know?
