Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions Guide

By Paul Le and BahaMatt

Some of this information pertains to the original Final Fantasy Tactics but still applies to War of the Lions. We are in the process of documenting and updating the changes as we play through the rerelease. Most of this information is merely name changes (Algus => Argath, Monster Skill => Beastmaster, etc), but some of the data itself has changed. Please contact us with any corrections.

Introduction

Before Yasumi Matsuno cemented his status as an élite game producer (see Vagrant Story), he made a living crafting envelope-pushing classics with a strategic/tactical slant. Enter Final Fantasy Tactics, which rescued FF's venerable "job/ability" system from the clutches of post-Super Famicom oblivion and proved that, yes, it was actually possible to put both an interesting story and relatively complex gameplay in a title containing the words "Final Fantasy." How could anyone go wrong with a game that boasts duplicity, back-stabbing, innuendo, and a guy named Cid? Hey, I had a good feeling!
