Square Enix revealed the top staff behind Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, as well as a projected release date.
  • Yoshinori Kitase - Producer
  • Tetsuya Nomura - Director
  • Takeshi Nozue - Director
  • Nobuo Uematsu - Composer
  • Kazushige Nojima - Scenario Writer
  • Yuusuke Naora - Art Director

While Nomura was initially responsible for the character designs of Final Fantasy VII, he's now directing the movie while (newcomer?) Takayuki Taketani handles the designs and Yusuke Naora does the art direction.

The movie will be released directly on DVD during summer next year and is currently about 10% done.

An interesting aspect of this whole project is that it seems credit for the story is being given to a single person which appears to be a first for the Final Fantasy series; previously, multiple people would collaborate on development, but since this isn't an interactive title and thus not as complicated as a game, it obviously doesn't require as many people to write. We'll see if it turns out as good, however.

I'll I've got to say is it better be damn good, they've got a lot to live up to with a heavy-weight title like that! I expect those graphics to be on par with FF:SW or better, and Cloud and Sephiroth better sound exactly as I imagined them!

Assassin, I think kain was refering to your usage of "phat" before "chance." If you think about it, you'll realize that you don't know what the hell you're doing.

Now that I really think about it, you are a looser who thinks that he is some smart guy.

Quite right, I am a loser. I do play video games after all. As do you, I assume. Unless you've become lost. Are you lost?

I take pride in being a loser ^_^

I hope we all went to Squareamp recently and got a small movie of FFVII - Advent Children from the Tokyo Game Show. I know I did, damn it looks good. To know the original crew are involved, especially Normua & Uematsu, is a relief.

I am only a looser right now. But I wont be when I become a Comic book artist.
pixel
Well, knowing Uematsu is going to be in it shows it'll at least have some good music. We can only wait and see...
pixel
Oh, right. Comic book artists are most definitely not losers.
pixel
This movie better not kill the games reputation, cuz we all know that it is the best ever made. I hope the voices are better than that of Final Fantasy X too.
pixel
No! Really?

I'd have to agree with Louie here.

I saw the advent children trailer. Seph's hair is short. He looks retarded. The Long hair version was also shown but it was just creepy. Not cool.
pixel
He's supposed to look creepy! He's a psycotic, megalomanic for god sakes!
pixel
Can't wait to see this movie. =D
pixel
I mean that instead of him being a Badass guy who wanted to rule the world, He's a zombie that just wishes to kill you.
