Square Enix announced plans for a trilogy of RPGs based in the world of Ivalice, known as the Ivalice Alliance. The titles include Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War for PSP, and what looks to be a sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War for the Sony PSP will be more than just a straight port of the Zodiac Brave Story. Adding to the strengths of the original, the title will incorporate PSP widescreen display, two additional character classes, along with new cel-shaded anime video sequences. As pictured in the Shonen Jump scan, the Onion Knight of Final Fantasy III will be a newly accessible job classification.

The third title of the aforementioned Ivalice Alliance remains something of a mystery, though Shonen Jump Magazine calls it Final Fantasy Tactics A2: The Sealed Grimoire (Fuuketsu no Grimoire). No console has been specified for this particular title, though a direct sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for the Game Boy Advance or Nintendo DS would seem most logical.

More details on the new Ivalice trilogy should be forthcoming at the weekend's Jump Festa event.

I am becoming increasingly vexed by the apparent need to lump any three games related to each other into some magnificent project.

Square's milking it. First with Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, Fabula Nova Crystallis, and now the Ivalice Alliance, and don't forget the Mana franchise. What happened to independent projects? I'm not really complaining but they're making too many games at once. I wouldn't find it shocking if Nomura decided to make "The Kingdom Epic" consisting of Kingdom Hearts games based on side characters, because Olette needs a game all her own. LOL I haven't lost my faith in Square though. Final Fantasy XIV won't be released for another ten years then... I'm not even done with XII yet.
