Research by Japanese company Enterbrain, Inc. has revealed that Sony, Nintendo, and Konami are currently leading the Japanese markets of console, handheld, and game sales, respectively.
Games Are Fun has reported that Bloomerang has reported that Enterbrain, Inc. has reported that the video game market leaders for the first half of the 2002 fiscal year are Sony, Nintendo, and Konami, unsurprisingly.

Sony dominated the console market with 1.6 million PS2 units as well as 110,000 PS1 units sold; a dominating 82% of the market. Nintendo followed far behind with 304,000 Gamecube units (14%). However, even Nintendo stands tall above Microsoft, who holds roughly 4% of the market with 88,000 units sold.

Just as Sony dominated the console market, Nintendo has remained the market leader in handheld sales with a healthy 89% over Baindai's Wonderswan share of 6%.

Finally, Konami won the software market with over 3 million games sold. Nintendo followed with 2.4 million in sales and Bandai trailed with 1.7 million.
