Saturday, February 19 in Chicago marks the first in a series of concerts showcasing orchestrated music from the Final Fantasy series. Dear Friends - Music from Final Fantasy will be performed by the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra and the CPO Festival Choir and is produced by Nobuo Uematsu. "After the fantastic support received at the first concert in Los Angeles, I am thrilled and honored to extend the experience to Chicago," said Uematsu. "I'm looking forward to sharing the moments with those who love the music and games of FINAL FANTASY."

Now that I missed the LA concert it's a nice consolation to have one another one a couple thousand miles away.

This is awesome, I wanted to go to the LA concert but living in Chicago I didn't want to have to pay the plane fare. Now it's 30 mins away from me so I'm definately going to attend; I've reserved my seat and I have a VIP ticket so I get to go to a meet and greet session with Nobou Uematsu ^^. It's going to be so much fun.

Last night was the first stop on Nobuo Uematsu's North American Concert tour titled "Dear Friends: Music from Final Fantasy". I attended the concert so now I post all the goodies about it.

The concert kicked ass! If the concert just happens to be swinging your way, definately go see it ^^ especially if you enjoy orchestrated music. Here's the song list of what songs were played.

01. Liberi Fatali - Final Fantasy VIII
02. Zanarkand - Final Fantasy X
03. Terra's Theme - Final Fantasy VI
04. Theme of Love - Final Fantasy IV
05. Dear Friends - Final Fantasy V
06. Vamo' Alla Flamenco - Final Fantasy IX
07. Love Grows - Final Fantasy VIII
08. Aeris' Theme - Final Fantasy VII
09. Not Alone - Final Fantasy IX
10. Ronfaure - Final Fantasy XI
11. Final Fantasy I-III Medley
12. Untitled Melody - Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
13. Final Fantasy

Nobuo was incredibly gracious and was happy to see the sold out crowd is is looking foward to his North American concert tour. That and he was very concerned about all of our voices because we were cheering so much.

My favorite songs of the night were "Zanarkand", "Theme of Love", "Final Fantasy I-III Medley" and of course "Final Fantasy". Zanarkand ochestrated is just phenomenal especially occompanied with the CG scene where Yuna is perfoming the first sending, it got a standing ovation. Other highlights were during Vamo' Alla Flamenco when they told us that we couldn't dance in the isles, and when Vivi came on the plasma screens every claps and cheers in the middle of the songThe untitled melody from Advent Children sounded similar to Aeris' Theme, it's different but similar and very pretty.

I got a VIP ticket so I also got to go to a Meet and Greet session, where I got my Program signed and an autographed poster and stickers and postcards from Nobuo's site. Unfortunatly no camera's were allowed in the Theatre so I don't have pictures of the show.

The next concert is in San Fransico, so go damnit!

Stupid U.S. I want a show here damn it. All I have is an orchestra that WANTS to play their music and find themselves having a hard time with negotiations. That and the fact that they can't seem to play in more than one city, which is ages away.
