Final Fantasy XII receives perfect Famitsu score |
|
In a historic event, Final Fantasy XII has ravaged the innards of Japanese Famitsu in this, its week before release, and earned itself a perfect rating of 40 points. The consequences are quite dire. |
But in addition to being the sixth game to receive such accolades and the only title on the Playstation 2 to do so, Final Fantasy XII also holds the remarkable distinction of being the second title primarily under the direction of Yasumi Matsuno to achieve a perfect score (the other being Vagrant Story). Although one may remember the confusion over his involvement, Matsuno's touch still persists in Final Fantasy XII, even if he remains credited for "original concept/scenario/supervision".
In the end, all four of Famitsu's reviewers applauded the game's graphics, scenario design, and game system, noting the freshness that the title has brought to the Final Fantasy series. Famitsu is not entirely unknown for its elevated scoring of high-profile titles, however, dividing many who have always been concerned for the game's final quality. Ultimately, the world will have to wait one long week for Final Fantasy XII's March 16 release date to see if all its excruciating delays, maddened marketing ploys, and unnecessary accessories have been worth the wait.
But after all this time, they damn well better have.
