With Square Enix's line-up of Nintendo DS strategy titles appearing on shelves in Japan, Famitsu is appraising the game developer's efforts to carve out a niche on the country's most popular console. The verdict: a decisive 32. The direct sequel to Final Fantasy XII, titled Revenant Wings, has scored a respectable 32/40. So have the latest handheld Seiken Densetsu title, Heroes of Mana, and Hanjuku Heroes DS. It's 32's all around for Square Enix.

The long wait is over. The latest scores for Square Enix's Nintendo DS titles in Japan are finally here! The verdict... 32.

Hanjuku Eiyuu DS: Egg Monster Heroes - 8 / 9 / 7 / 8 - (32/40)

Seiken Densetsu: Heroes of Mana - 9, 8, 8, 7 (32/ 40)

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings - 9, 8, 7, 8 (32/ 40)

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales - 8, 8, 8, 9 (33/40)

Front Mission 1st DS has not received a Famitsu score, due to its resemblance to the Playstation port of the game. But factoring in the added stylus and touch screen support, and Front Mission 5 guest characters, the title is reasonably worthy of a rating somewhere around... 32.

Natarahul, the game is a direct continuation of the Final Fantasy XII storyline taking place one year after the events of the Playstation 2 title with some stylistic changes to the art direction. According to these criteria I'm describing it as a direct sequel. It's being called that by GameTrailers and RPGamer.
