• Near Death Experience: an interview with Yoshitaka Hirota
  Yoshitaka Hirota began his career in music as a sound designer for Square. He worked as a synthesizer operater and sound arranger, contributing to such classic titles as Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VII, and Parasite Eve. As a composer, he has undertaken the musical scores for Sacnoth's trilogy of Shadow Hearts games and the arrange album titled "near death experience." His newest album is a collaboration with vocalist Rekka Kitakiri called Kinema in the Hall. Today Square Haven talks with the composer on the subject of his career in game music. • Hiroki Kikuta: Lost Files Regained
  Hiroki Kikuta is the composer of such game music soundtracks as Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, and Soukaigi. • Breakbeat Alternative: A Conversation with Riow Arai

  Masashi Hamauzu is a classically trained musician and vocalist. Inheriting the talents of his father, an opera singer, the composer lent his voice to the chorus of "One Winged Angel" in Final Fantasy VII, and years later was selected to compose music for the game's long-awaited sequel.   Alexander O. Smith is a localization specialist who translates Japanese media through his independent company, Kajiya Productions. His projects for Square include Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XII. • Miyamoto Wife-o-Meter rating at all-time high
  In his keynote speech at the Game Developers Conference today, game designer Shigeru Miyamoto addressed Nintendo's goal of winning a more expansive audience. "It is not enough to just please those of us who already love videogames," said Miyamoto. "We must reach out to those who aren’t really interested in games." His wife, who has shown little concern for videogames, has been converted by Brain Age and Wii Sports. Miyamoto claims the victory earns Nintendo a high "Wife-o-Meter rating." GDC 2007

  Shawn Lee is blessed with an abundance of musical gifts. During 2006 he was burning the midnight oil in recording studios all over London to furnish listeners with a dazzling array of sounds. Shawn Lee’s Ping Pong Orchestra released Strings and Things in February on Ubiquity Records. His eagerly awaited album Soul Visa, previously available only in Japan, emerged in April, featuring the Witchita-born composer's very own vocal talents.
