Music Composer

Kumi Tanioka is a game soundtrack composer for Square Enix. Born in Hiroshima, she studied formally at the University of Kobe and joined Square in 1998. She has performed live piano and synthesizer arrangements for the softrock videogame band The Star Onions and allegedly dresses up as Santa Claus at Square Enix holiday parties. She is currently composing music for both Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Rings of Fate and The Crystal Bearers.

In it, protagonist Katana Faraway struggles with protecting the earth against a rebellious uprising that counts his closest friend among its forces. The video features English-language voice acting, techno by Einhander's Kenichiro Fukui, and snippets from the XBox 360 title's 3D dogfights.     ffxi-newexp.gifAvailable for import at the price of $99, the newly announced Final Fantasy XI Soundtrack Premium Box Set will include seven discs and a piano score sheet. The limited edition item marks the fifth anniversary of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game in Japan, available for the PC, Playstation 2, and XBox 360 console. The CD collection composed and arranged by Naoshi Mizuta, Kumi Tanioka, and Nobuo Uematsu goes on sale in Japan on March 28th for 10,476 yen. Details and order info
