- Small people can be title characters too
A couple days ago at the Nintendo Fall Conference, it was revealed that Square Enix would develop a Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles spin-off exclusive for the Wii. The catch is that this game, titled Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Small King and the Promised Country, will be a Wii-Ware title making it downloadable only. It also appears to have much more of a strategy element to it, ala Sim City. Players will have to build and govern their own land. FFCC: The Small King and the Promised Country is due out in March 2008 for Japan and there has yet to been an American release announced.
- E3 2007 - Square Enix to bring online store stateside
In addition to its E3 lineup announcement, Square Enix has revealed its scheme to open a North American online store. Square Enix, as a self-described "premiere [maker] of high end-collectibles" plans to stock a multitude of "popular and hard-to-find items" including Master Arms, Play Arts, and Mechanical Arts spanning various series, from Final Fantasy to Kingdom Hearts. Clearly, Square Enix has seen that someone, somewhere is making money selling its products. The immediate consequence will likely find many third-party vendors competing for profits with Square Enix itself. The Online Store

Nintendo announced the release dates for several of its upcoming games today, and Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles was listed with February 9th, indicating that it had been pushed back from its previous November 11 due date. As it turns out, Europe will now be getting the game before North America, as its December release date over there (here) still holds true. - Dengeki GC gets hands on Crystal Chronicles; Nintendo reveals first shipment details
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles received 7 / 8 / 9 / 9 (33/40) from japanese Gamecube specialist mag Dengeki GC, indicating that it should be pretty good as we expected, but not exactly perfect (as expected). At least it's better than Joshua Yadron thought it would be, that blasted naysayer. Nintendo mentioned that the first shipment of the title in Japan would consist of 100.000 units, which seems on the low side - so perhaps they don't expect the game to do really that well, or is the Gamecube market really that tiny?
