Final Fantasy III synopsis
A chance encounter with a sentient crystal propels Luneth from his peaceful village of Ur in search of three others who share his destiny... Together, the four adventurers must master the skills taught by the elemental crystals to vanquish the darkness threatening to engulf the world.Developed by Matrix Software, Final Fantasy III is among the first Square Enix RPG's to make innovative use of the portable Nintendo console's dual screen and stylus touch pad. Featuring new full motion video sequences and a remixed soundtrack, the game managed to win over many fans of the original 8-bit classic.
Version Information
Originally scheduled for the Wonderswan but never completed, the Nintendo DS Final Fantasy III remake is produced by Akitoshi Kawazu (SaGa) and exhibits fully 3D graphics. It marks the the very first release of the original Final Fantasy III in North America as well as the very last core Final Fantasy title as well.playing sincePlayers

- For those who missed the Dear Friends tour
Monday saw the announcement of the newest Final Fantasy concert tour, "Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY." The tour is in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the release of the original Final Fantasy title. Full Article
- E3 2007 - Square Enix to bring online store stateside
In addition to its E3 lineup announcement, Square Enix has revealed its scheme to open a North American online store. Square Enix, as a self-described "premiere [maker] of high end-collectibles" plans to stock a multitude of "popular and hard-to-find items" including Master Arms, Play Arts, and Mechanical Arts spanning various series, from Final Fantasy to Kingdom Hearts. Clearly, Square Enix has seen that someone, somewhere is making money selling its products. The immediate consequence will likely find many third-party vendors competing for profits with Square Enix itself. The Online Store
- Tanaka: "We were making Final Fantasy III for PS2 until Nintendo convinced us otherwise"
In an interview with Hiromichi Tanaka today on CVG, the producer reveals that Final Fantasy III (DS) was originally a PS2 project, but Nintendo convinced Square Enix to move it to DS instead. Other interesting tidbits: a Final Fantasy VII remake on DS is "a matter of timing", and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (Wii) will take advantage of motion detection for spellcasting.
