Squaresoft Japan has declared that they will restrict the publication of all walkthroughs and game guides for Final Fantasy IX. This action is a possible attempt to return to the olden days before people had to worry about spoilers and the like. It has also been revealed that Square's merchandise subsidiary company DigiCube will publish its own strategy guide, but not for a while after the game has been released, so gamers will have a chance to play through the game by themselves. No word yet on how the company plans to stop American publishing companies or online FAQs from being distributed.
