US gamers deprived of Final Fantasy IX guide |

Final Fantasy IX was released in Japan without any guide or hint book alongside it. At Square's request, all Japanese publications were asked not to publish their own Final Fantasy IX guides. However, Square's shallow motives were reavealed when hints and guides were provided courtesy of their online gaming concoction, PlayOnline.
According to both Brady (Square's official game guide publicist) and Versus publications, they have been requested to put all future Final Fantasy IX projects on hold until further notice. This, of course leads us to assume Square will actually be DOING something with the empty English portal of PlayOnline.com. English guides will assumably be available exclusively online as well, come November.
