$300 worth of PS2 periperhals looking like the cheaper way out after all.
Looks like Square's starting another beta test today.

On June 18th, Japanese testers will get to test drive the PC version of Square's first massively multiplayer online RPG. The PC edition of Final Fantasy XI will be compatible with the PlayStation 2 version; meaning both PC and PS2 gamers will be able to interact with each other in the world of Vana'diel.

PC gamers wanting to play Final Fantasy XI will need a fairly high end machine for it to run properly. The minimum requirements listed below are for the beta version of the game, and may be subject to change later.

Final Fantasy XI PC's Minimum Requirements:
  • Windows 98 or higher
  • Pentium III 800MHz processor
  • 128 MB RAM
  • GeForce card
  • 4.5 GB of free hard drive space
Ideally, gamers will want a video card with 64MB of RAM and a Pentium IV processor.

While Final Fantasy XI isn't Square's first PC release, it certainly is gathering a lot of attention. Given Square's dismal PS2 launch and questionable financial footing, many are wondering how the PC release of the game will fare, if at all.

Well it looks like I'm sticking with the PS2 version after all.
Ya me to haha.
We thank you for your insight, Malandain. I'm certain we're all more enlightened because of it.
I guess I'll just stick with...neither of them.
No prob Matt(Dunno if your serious or not). >=)
Im wondering if the PC version will be equal to the PS2 version or not? Even though my pc is more then capable of running the game, judging by the graphics of the FF7 / 8 PC versions why would you want to get it?
Well, it's still better then having to get a PS2... (like I won't have to)
