Sony confronts bump in the PS3 road |
|
IBM's proposed Cell chip won't be ready in time for Sony's planned 2005/6 launch of the PS3, and as a result, Sony has instead announced that they will be using a different chip set to power the PS3. Which ship they will be using, however, has yet to be decided. IBM's Cell chip architecture is reportedly 100 times more powerful than that of Intel's Pentium 4 and 7 klopogillion times the power of the Turbografix 16. |
