Nokia unveils slightly less crappy N-Gage "Confirming long suspicions that its first flirtation with handheld gaming wouldn't be its last, Nokia today announced the N-Gage QD, the upcoming successor to its original 'mobile gaming deck.' Coming to Europe, Asia, and Africa in May, with a North American release to follow in June, the QD aims to correct many of the design failings that kept the original N-Gage from becoming a success last year." 1UP.com
Square Enix to extend European division Holding true to its previous promises that Europe will no longer be the whipping slave of the games industry (for Squenix titles anyway), Square Enix today made public plans to extend UK-based Square Enix Europe to take control of more than just quality assurance, which it currently does. The company will be expanded to hold 50 employees compared to its current 20, and take over European distribution and marketing operations which were previously in hands of Atari.
Final Fantasy XI in Europe this year? Alongside its other Europe-related announcement, Square Enix also suggested that the UK would be receiving Final Fantasy XI in some form before the end of the year; mainland Europe was not mentioned.

FFII will have an extended sequence called Soul of Rebirth explaining more about the main characters. Two extra characters, Cid and "Borgen", will also be available in this part of the game. Fleeing from battle with L&R is now also implemented in both titles. FFI-II Advance is scheduled for a Japanese release this July.
Final Fantasy III remake on the way? An interview with Nintendo Dream magazine reveals that Squenix's Takashi Tokita doesn't see any reason not to release a Final Fantasy III remake. He comments that Nintendo are interested in the proposition, and the only reason it hasn't been done yet is that they missed the release window. Now it's a matter of deciding what kind of remake it would be. Can we say Dragon Quest V? 1up

First info on Ambrosia Odyssey available The latest edition of Famitsu reveals first details on Ambrosia Odyssey, an action RPG with both offline and online play. Apparently, the offline game will offer full-fledged gameplay where you can build your own towns replete with their own story and history while following a branching storyline. When you go online, you can visit other players\' towns and experience their stories and histories. Developed by Rocket Studio, KAI Graphics and Supersweep with supervision by Goi of Production Studio 10 (who worked on the game version of Junkmetal), Ambrosia Odyssey has no release date yet and suffered delays in its beta testing procedure.
First details on Front Mission Online Famitsu also has new information on Front Mission Online, a title that has remained in the background so far. Final Fantasy XI: Chains of Promathia officially announced As we suspected earlier, the second expansion for Final Fantasy XI, Chains of Promathia, is being readied for release this Autumn. Apparently, gamers will not be required to have the previous expansion, Rise of the Zilart (included with the US release), though there will be connections between the two that enhance the experience. With at least 40 new areas that fill in current empty parts of the world map and new modes of transport, the expansion looks to be more environmental than gameplay-altering: Square Enix doesn\'t intend to add any new jobs, skills, or increase the level cap at this time.
New screens of Final Fantasy XII released While this doesn\'t necessarily demonstrate a real news article, it seems relevant to mention that the new screens of Final Fantasy XII that popped up today show a battle system in progress while an overworld map is still visible, almost confirming our suspicions that Matsuno is ripping out the random battle mechanic from the series. Let\'s hope for it.
