- R.I.P. E3
As of this point in time, the Electronic Entertainment Expo as we know it will cease to exist. The Entertainment Software Association has emphatically declared the death of the Expo as a geek orgy of P.R. mayhem, to be replaced with a smaller (5,000 attendees), more press-centric "E3 Media Festival." - Minaba, Sakimoto and Sakaguchi in Mistwalker DS RPG Archaic Sealed Heat (ASH)
At Nintendo's press conference, Square Enix spin-off Mistwalker took the opportunity to announce a new game. Which isn't interesting in and of itself (it's a strategy RPG). The interesting part is that Hideo Minaba and Hitoshi Sakimoto are involved. Ding! They were on staff for Final Fantasy XII at some point, right? So does that mean FFXII is done? Or that they quit and the FF12 DOOMED scenario was true to some extent? Or did Sakaguchi just whip it out and taunt them over? And will a game with a title as ludicrous as "Archaic Sealed Heat" really be any good, despite the fact that it's the first game to be developed by Sakaguchi since... a really long time?
- Wild ARMs 4 and Shadow Hearts 3 to be published in US by ex-Square CEO
Square Enix's CEO prior to Youchi Wada's promotion, Jun Iwasaki, and six of his Square Enix buddies, have founded a new company specifically for the spreading of RPG wonder in the Western lands called XSeed Games. I'll let you speculate about the possible relationship of that title to Final Fantasy VIII yourself, however. XSeed will be bringing Shadow Hearts 3 and Wild ARMs 4 to the States in 2006, with plans for more after the aforementioned two prove successful. Which they will, apparently. Iwasaki can look into the future.
- PS3 could be pushed to 2007 if conditions favor Sony
According to a report by Wedbush Morgan Securities, Sony could dely the PS3's launch into the early part of 2007. The basis for the projection rests on the production cost of the current PS2 and the soon to be released Xbox 360. If events go as predicted, Sony will drop the PS2's price to $99 around the launch of the Xbox 360. Because the PS2 costs less than $99 to produce, it would serve as a distraction to the higher priced 360 and help counteract a likely $99 Xbox, which would still sell at a loss. If the launch proves to be lackluster due to the cheapened PS2, it's successor console could easily be delayed into 2007, giving Sony plenty of time to produce units to meet demands. Ultimately, however, the release date rests on the success of the 360 and its launch. GameSpot

- Vin Diesel signed for Hitman movie; 1% statistical chance of being good
Vin Diesel has reportedly been cast as Agent 47 in the forthcoming Hitman movie as well as future games in the series. "We've selected Diesel for good reasons," said Dickey Swick, casting director for Hitman, "because he's so bald and is an amazingly talented and gifted thespian." Given that 10% of Diesel's movies are good, and 10% of all video game movies are good, Hitman: the Movie has a 1% statistical chance of beeing any good at all.
