- Final Fantasy XI goes beta
Public testing for PlayOnline services in North America has begun at Square Enix USA's site, where users can sign up for either the PS2 or PC version of the network and get a chance to play Tetra Master, Final Fantasy XI and make use of PlayOnline stuff. IGN Cube is reporting that Square Enix's upcoming Gamecube project will be playable at E3 in some form or another.
- Final Fantasy Tactics Advance in Europe?
A poll about the Game Boy Player on the Nintendo Europe website has a question asking what kind of games you'd enjoy using the Player for. One of those titles is Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - and let's face it, they wouldn't put that there if they didn't plan on releasing it. Especially since PAL territories didn't get the PSX Final Fantasy Tactics.
- Square Enix developing sim RPG
The Square Enix homepage now sports a request for another programmer to join the development team for an upcoming simulation RPG. Details concerning the title were not revealed, but perhaps something like Animal Crossing or Giftpia could be hoped for?
- 1:10 scale Yuna soon ready for 'consumption', no blow-up dolls planned
Square Enix president Yoichi Wada commented on upcoming game development for the company today, stating that new titles will be more "aware" of the networking capabilities (i.e. online) of PlayOnline. Additionally, developers from both Square and Enix have remained with the new company and will be meeting later this week to discuss new, original Squenix titles, of which we can expect to see on in around one year from now. Oh yes, and they also plan to release a 1:10 scale Yuna doll from Final Fantasy X-2.

- Square Enix opens Japanese, US websites
The assimilation of Square Enix became official today and the company websites have launched along with the merger. You can check out the US website at square-enix-usa.com and the Japanese at square-enix.co.jp.

Amazon Japan is listing Kingdom Hearts 2 on their pre-order list, according to Gamefront. Square hasn't announced anything about its release, although it has been confirmed to be under development. KH2 pre-order

- Final Fantasy Tactics Advance heading to America, and if they're lucky, Canada
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is heading to North America, says Gamefront. The title is reportedly being localized for a 2003 release, assumably sometime this fall.

These new FF:CC screenshots show off some familiar styles that mostly remind us of Final Fantasy IX, but also of very early FF titles due to the crystal in the first shot. Look closely and you'll spot a sahagin and some coeurls, too.

Square revealed today that their expected net profits for the current financial year which ends on March 31 have increased from approx. US$40M to US$95.9M. Reasons for the gain are said to be due to excellent sales of Final Fantasy X-2 and Kingdom Hearts in the US. Gamefront

"According to the UK online trade journal Indie Magazine, Square Co. Ltd, in the wake of its extradorinary sales of Final Fantasy X-2, is planning a sequel temporarily called Final Fantasy X-3, IGN learned today." Kitase and previous statements from Square suggest that there will be no FFX-3, however.

Famitsu writes that Square Enix plan to make a large announcement about Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles during the official unveiling of the title, which will take place before E3. The Japanese release date has been set for July 18.
- Hanjuku Hero vs 3d mini-soundtrack announced
Square will be releasing a mini-soundtrack for Hanjuku Hero vs 3d in Japan on the 23rd of April. The music is by Nobuo Uematsu and will also contain the opening sequence of the game as a bonus. Gamefront
- No more FFX-2 shipments, says Square
Square has announced that following the initial shipment of 1.8 million units of Final Fantasy X-2, which sold 1.2 million copies in a day last week, there will be no more copies made available, even when this batch runs out. Why Square would do something odd like that is questionable, but it possibly has something to do with the upcoming creation of Square Enix. Gamefront
- 40 page walkthrough for FFX-2
Gamefront reports that the next issue of Japanese magazine Dengeki will feature a 40 page complete walkthrough for Final Fantasy X-2. The issue is scheduled to appear on March 28. News from Japan suggests that FFX-2 can be completed in several different ways, a feature widely hailed by critics of the series' longtime linearity.

C&VG's forums have a popular thread up where some fanboy claims to have inside info that Nintendo has bought the rights to Final Fantasy's 1 through 9 and plans to develop 1 through 6 on GBA and 7 through 9 on GC. Ludicrous? Rumour. C&VG
