- FFX-2 sells more booty than your sister
First we report that Square shipped 1.8 million copies of Final Fantasy X-2 to retailers for its Japanese launch, which seemed like a ludicrous number; now we hear they sold 1.2 million of them on the actual day. Good lord. Gamefront

Page 4 of IGN's "Upcoming PS2 games of 2003" feature (which we did like, two issues ago, slowpokes!) mentions that we can expect a Chrono Break or Chrono Crisis in 2004. It's totally speculatory but at least it's nice to see a larger site like IGN acknowledge the rumours. IGN PS2

Final Fantasy X-2 launched today in Japan with customers queueing up as early as midnight and one store getting smart and opening early to attract more potential consumers. Square has shipped 1.8 million copies of the game all over Japan, obviously expecting it to do pretty well. Gamefront
- Crystal Chronicles delayed and/or canceled because of fucking France
According to Quiter, Square has delayed the release of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles as a result of development issues with the battle system. The delay, however, is under scrutiny and Square Haven blames the French because it's always their fault when something shitty happens.
- Japanese get to play with eggs this summer
Square has set the release date for Hanjuku Hero vs 3D in Japan for sometime in June 2003. The title will not be coming overseas. Gamefront

Final Fantasy X-2, which launches tomorrow in Japan, was reviewed by Dengeki PS2 and Famitsu PS2, receiving an 345/400 (90/85/95/75) and 35/40 (9/9/8/9) respectively. Other points of interest were the funky-lookin' PN03, which walked away with a disappointing 7/10, Soul Calibur 2 which took the lead this week with an 8,6 from Dorimaga, and Made in Wario, which Famitsu PS2 gave 35/40 also. This new scan from Japanese mag V-Jump shows more similarities between recently revealed character Lenne and Yuna; namely, they seem to have a thing for handsome blondes: Dark Tidus?

RPGFan reports that Quiter reports that Square reports that Kingdom Hearts 2 is indeed being worked on. The two special ending movies paid off then - those that have seen it will know what kind of interestingly dark style to expect from the sequel. Quiter

Sony has published a RealAudio stream which runs for 11 minutes and covers the new Zone of the Enders title as well as Final Fantasy X-2. Aside from some general gameplay shots, it's mostly a bunch of developers droning on in Japanese.

More news regarding Final Fantasy X-2 hits as Square announces its plans to release a maxi single, "Kyuuen ~Hikari to Nami no Kioku~" (Eternity: The Memory of Light and Waves), containing 3 vocal tracks from the game that won't be on the 2-disc, 61 track, original sound version. Gamers.com
- "Songstress Ren" revealed
A new scan of some Final Fantasy X-2 stuff sort of reveals how Yuna's singing fits into the game - this other chick called Ren, who is apparently a "songstress", wears the same outfit as Yuna. Whether or not she is friend or foe is unknown. Newtechnix

Gamefront reports that Final Fantasy X-2 will be released in North America in November this year.
- Square considering FFIII for Wonderswan
Despite Steven Wilson's confirmation that Square canned the Wonderswan release of Final Fantasy III last July, Bandi is reportedly petitioning for Square to release the title, regardless of Square's worries of quality and Wonderswan's pending discontinuation.
- FFXI: Vision of Girat's Shiva very hot
Square has further developed its Playonline Final Fantasy XI: Vision of Girat page, adding screens of new locations with descriptions that I can't read, as well as some pictures detailing the use of the three new character classes which are presumably summoner, badass samurai, and uh, something else. The summoner's page features some explanation as to how the act of summoning is executed, as well as some shots of the new Shiva, who is as scantily clad as ever. Yay! Playonline

- Enix not developing for Gamecube or Xbox
Enix has apparently mentioned to Japanese magazine Quiter that it will not be pursuing development of software titles for either the Xbox or Gamecube - planned games will only be released for PS2 or Game Boy Advance, and most will be for PS2. Whether or not this policy will change when they merge with Square to form Square Enix, however, wasn't mentioned. Quiter
