The Live A Live soundtrack soars on wings of manic Japanese weirdness. Unlike the Hanjuku Hero OST, Live A Live holds itself together well enough to prove entertaining, staying true enough to its Final Fantasy heritage to claim the title of a legitimate RPG, though on crack. The score by Yoko Shimomura at her manic best was penned years before she earned stardom status with Kingdom Hearts. Shimomura just goes nuts on this soundtrack, really playing to the craziness of the many genres thrown together in this Battle Royale of an RPG. Fans of Kingdom Hearts, especially nostalgic old school gamers, should give this one a listen.
