I'm playing Vaan as a spear-wielding luck-oriented thief, Penelo as a battle-hardened healer, Ashe as a summoner, Basch as a tank, Balthiar as a ninja and Fran as a support-oriented long-ranged fighter.

I got like four hours into it last night, I'm absolutely LOVING it! the only thing is that Vaan's abs really creep me out... they just look... like that time mariah carey airbrushed on abs for this christmas show she did and the next day everyone on tv and the radio was making fun of her!

Last time I order a new game online. You guys, my other friends, and the people at work are all killing me telling me how awesome the game is :( :( :( :( :(

oh man that sucks! sorry dude... EB doesn't suck though (even though I think EB doesn't exist anymore its all game stop now) because they had the midnight release at my old store! just their website sucks. maybe its because the evil known as gamestop took over and ruined all that was once good....

From what I was told, the online stores are a seperate entity entirely from Gamestop/EB. And I've heard of people getting games the day after it came out, to a week later :/

Okay my consumer rage attained maximum ... rage and heres what I did:

I went to EB myself and bought a copy (regular), once my other copy comes in the mail (the special ed.), I'll give my regular edition copy to my friend Josh as a x-mas present.

So yeah, yesterday was catch up and played for ... 11 hours, hahaha. Expect similar amounts of time today as well =D

I have a question, I asked it on my LJ but I thought I'd ask it here as well, does anyone know if Penelo actually dances in the game (pulls a Yuna) or is this picture just something that they did but has nothing to do with the game??

On a side note; I love the hunts! Half of 'em are timed perfectly with the storyline it's a great way to make extra cash which is a constant need in this game, with Techniks, Magicks, Armor, Weapons and Items. Sheesh.
So far I use Basch as a buffing powerhouse(Paladin), Ashe as a disabling-magick Dark Night, Vaan as a Dragoon with well-rounded magick and the first summon, Penelo as a powerhouse Sword&Shield user, Fran as an Archer, and Balthier using Poles(the added evasion+extra chance for combos is great for a line-fighter/front row attacker).
I'd apologize for my nerdiness, but pshh if I can't on here then there's wrong with the world. But I do apologize for any nonsensical tripe; I try hard not to, but chuknow; it'saBobthang.

I'm gonna make Vaan the ninja type, two swords and all (right now hes in charge of the poles), Ashe my all around fighter (Paladin) while I make Basch the powerhouse he should be. Balthier is good as the ranged attacker for now (guns), unless he doesn't get any good abilities soon ... then I'll think of something else.

For the mages, Fran is the Black Mage, although shes sticking with her bow and Penelo is my White Mage, carrying a rod and everything.

The boss in the Tomb is kicking my ass though, 3 times and I got him to 10% health .... gotta think of a new tactic while I'm at work

or if you talking bout the bird... then you should go get the flower item that weakens it.. get it from a moogle in the sandsea.. one of those little dudes needs help!

Nah, the bird got owned, no special item or nothin (although I do know what situation you're talking about).

OMG I'm going to kill myself I can't beat one stupid boss and I don't want to say who it is because I suppose it might be a spoiler... grrr... its very annoying.

I play on active and 2 spheres below fast; beat Belias(if you've not already) with quickenings(not nearly as hard a boss as the first Demon Wall!) and water; I cast Water a bunch(it's always good to have water, takes out wyverns and fire-elementals such as Bombs and Salamander-entites) and pound him with Quickenings, when that runs out, ethers, that runs out; pound 'im with the Iron Hammer on Basch and the Axe on whomever!

I like Penelo because she has good Magick power; not as good as Vaan or Ashe but with the +50 and +150 HP technick and the golden armor(once you're outta the Tomb bought in Rabanastre) she's a tank! Equip a Katana which is a mix between Dex(combos roll more than anything but poles and ninja swords) Magick Pwr! Strength and the foe's defense... She's a badass with a big fucking sword! And with all the Magick-enhancing stuff... Like Magick Pwr Up when HP Critical... mwahahahahahahaha!!!

it wasn't Belias that I had troube with... it was the boss after that... the person who I wont say because it might be a spoiler... anyway, I beat him so it doesn't matter. and yeah I bought the special edition guide, and I LOVE that picture also!!!

I think I've gotten more game overs in this game than any other game before! its so frustrating! arg! I forgot to do the hunts for awhile, so now fifteen hours later I decided to go on some hunts, I somehow managed to skip over some and ended up attempting one that was a way way higer level than I was and after running around in the desert FOREVER trying to figure out where the thing is (because I'm not smart enough to look at my strategy guide that I paid $40 unclean bucks for) DEATH... ultimate death... thats what I get... I was supposed to be writing a paper.

I've been running around trying to get enough money for 5o hipotions in the Rain/Giza plains. Also am leveling up for the Ozmone plains(WAY hard).

Wow, from what I'm reading, FFXII actually has some sort of semblance of difficulty. Wow, just wow, that has to be a first for a FF game. I am suddenly very intrigued into where this is going, I mean, there goes the target audience of prepubescent and early adolescent casual gamers. Is this ushering a new age of hardcore FF gamers? Dammit, I can't wait for my copy next week.

Ahhh good point. Let me rephrase my comment. There hasn't been any hard mainstream FFs ever since the 4th generation console timeline. The games stopped being hard during the 32bit era which is the same time that FF got popular and from which the majority of fans stem from. Hence what I'm trying to say is that many fans probably haven't confronted a hard FF or, from the looks of it, a slightly hardcore, mature FF before, so it should be interesting. Personally, I think this new direction is a great move especially for the disillusioned fans but I still wonder how the noobs will find it because you have to admit, the majority of FF fans seem to manifest themselves as whiny 13 year olds.

Yeah as you can see, when I get interested in something, I tend to ramble profusely.
