Originally a member of SOLDIER, Cloud is now a mercenary who will take any job. After being hired by Avalanche, he gradually gets caught up in a massive struggle for the life of the planet.

Cloud's usefulness is astounding, not unlike any main charcater in any RPG. His physical attack is immensely threatening while he is no slouch on magic, either.

Young, beautiful Aeris is a Midgarian flower merchant. She met Cloud for the first time in Midgar and has since taken interest to the deepening love triangle between herself, Cloud, and Tifa. She is as quiet as she is charming and is the key to the mysteries of the world.

Aeris' strength in battle is her magic ability. Where as her magic power is high, her attack and defense is low. Aeris will best serve your party in the back row away from harm.

Bright and optimistic, Tifa is always able to cheer others up when they are down. However, don't let her looks fool you. She can decimate almost any enemy with her bare fists. Tifa and Cloud were childhood friends and although she has strong feelings for him, she would never admit to it.

With stong attack power, decent magic attacks, and limit breaks that kick an uncanny amount of ass, Tifa is one of your most valuable assets.

Barret is fierce, strong, and easily provoked. He does have a soft side however, which is shown in his love for his daughter, Marlene. Barret is the leader of the underground resistance movement, Avalanche, which also consists of Biggs, Wedge, Jesse, and the newest recruit, Cloud.

As one can easily tell, Barret is a fighter. His strongest asset is his hulking strength, which is only heightened by the artificial gun-arm Barret acquired through an unfortunate incident.

Cid is a tough-talking, warm-hearted old codger who hasn't forgotten his dreams. There's no better pilot by air or sea. With his spear in hand and vast knowledge of machinery on mind, he throws himself into any situation, regardless of the danger.

Cid's running style is reason enough to keep him in your party. If you're looking for a better reason, though, he is a level character with sufficient magic and attack power.

Under the fierce exterior of this beast is an intelligence surpassing that of any normal human's. Don't let the ferociousness of this mysterious character deceive you.

Red XIII's sharp claws and fangs cause moderate physical damage on the front line of battle, but limited matera slots from his headdress weapons make for limited materia use.

Megaphone in hand, Cait Sith is always shouting orders and creating dopey attacks. When his slot machine attack works, the enemy lines look like an overturned toy box. His hobby is fortune telling which, like is personality, is always unpredictable.

It's safe to say that Cait Sith here is relatively useless. His retarded attacks do nary a scratch on the enemy, not to mention the fact than nobody seems to like him. Is he the most hated Final Fantasy hero of all time?

An obscure and occult character, stern and upright yet dark and mysterious. His past connection with Shinra is what persuaded him to join Cloud and the others. He may seem frail at first glance, but hidden inside his body lurks a fearsome power.

Vincent's attack is fierce and rarely misses its target. His magic power is up to par with most but his Limit Breaks, albeit moderately powerful, cause him to become berserk and out of control.

Although you'd never know by looking at her, Yuffie comes from a long line of ninja warriors. She tends to be cocky and selfish, even shady at times, but with her shuriken in hand, there isn't anyone else better to have by your side in a fight.

Yuffie can hold her own in a fight. She has a decent amount of magic power and can pack quite a punch.
